Making Special Education Actually Work

Flag Football team formed for youth with special needs

The Conejo Recreation and Park District -Therapeutic Recreation Unit is pleased and excited to announce open registration for the newly created Flag Football team for youth, ages 6-14, with special needs! Team practices will be held weekly on Sundays, from 10:30-11:30am, beginning September 13. Practices will be held at the Old Meadows Center field in Thousand Oaks. The season will last approximately nine weeks and will culminate in a ?Superbowl? at a High School Stadium, to be played against a similar special needs flag football team hosted by Coach Greg Barnes and the City of Oxnard. This new 8-9 week program will be offered at the registration fee of only $20 (in-district. Out of District registration fee is $24.)

The Conejo Recreation and Park District is proud to offer the talents of both Coach Vince Shelton (of T.O. Challenger Little League division) and Coach Greg Schlobohm (of many CRPD Therapeutic Recreation programs) to the leadership of this new program. The team will enjoy the volunteer support of players from the Thousand Oaks High School Football team along with team player parents. Donors are being sought to offset the cost of team shirts and the ?Superbowl? event. We are well on our way to a very high quality and fun program for all!
