Local Education Agency Consultation Services
Our consultation services can help LEAs avoid costly litigation and improve student outcomes. Just as parents contact us seeking guidance and advice regarding individual situations, Local Education Agency ("LEA") administrators now also reach out to us for our advice and guidance regarding unique situations they face.
We encourage LEAs to reach out to us in this manner and continue to respond to email inquiries for free. LEAs can contact us at info@kps4parents.org to pose their questions and we will reply by email or coordinate a time to speak with them by phone.
However, when situations are involved and cannot be easily answered with an email or a simple telephone call, we are now available to LEAs as consultants for hire. As with our parent and student services, our hourly rate of $125 is based on what is necessary to cover our costs of operation with no mark-up for profit.
LEA consultation services include assisting LEAs in rebuilding damaged relationships with parents following the resolution of disputes, developing positive parent collaboration strategies and policies to implement agency-wide with all parents of students with special needs, and working successfully with parents who are emotional and don't understand their rights or how the regulated process of special education works.
LEA consultation services also include personnel issues such as assisting general education teachers who do not understand how special education is regulated, the LEA's legal obligations, and the potential risks they pose to their students and the LEA by failing to comply with students' IEPs and/or 504 Plans.
